Patrizia Moroso swung into London last week to open the long awaited UK showroom of beloved brand (to her and us) Moroso. Situated at the crossroads of Oxford Street and Tottenham Court Road the 300 metre-squared display space is exactly what the area needs to bring a bit of life to a recently neglected corner of central London.

Celebrating the British opening, Moroso is holding a special window exhibition featuring new products by the company’s British collaborators: Ross Lovegrove, Ron Arad, Tom Dixon and Nipa Doshi with Jonathan Levien. Lovegrove’s Supernatural Chair and Armchair have been suspended over two storeys to create a tumbling cascade of shapes and green against the white background. We caught up with the designer and tasked him with answering a few questions about modern design, which you can read here.

Ross Lovegrove interview

In contrast to the futuristic, material-defying technology of Lovegrove’s work, are the Charpoy daybeds by Doshi Levien. The cotton and silk hand-embroidered products are made in India and the diversity inherent from the cultural melting pot of influences makes for sumptuous, intricate works of craft. Next door is Arad’s extraordinary Misfits sculptural, modular sofa collection and Wavy – a series of metal-framed chairs, draped in plastic with a fluid feel, like cling film. Last but not least is Tom Dixon’s Serpentine modular sofa, a sinuous creation that can be arranged however one wishes.
