Milan may have Corso Como, but when in Rome we prefer to do as the Romans do and peruse the shelves at Secondome. The design gallery and concept store, opened in 2006 by architect Claudia Pignatale, has in a few short years established itself as a powerful commissioning force in contemporary design.
Recent exhibitions – which often have a local or at least Italian emphasis - have included a series of glassware by Fabrica, including Utiles & [F]utiles by Sam Baron, the school’s art director. Secondome’s HQ, inside Palazzo Scapucci, is home to a new exhibition every two months.
