Fab 40: 'RGB' Vases, by Oscar Diaz

Spain

Vibrant colour is important to Spain’s cultural identity, but the national heritage in fact had little to do with (now London-based) native Oscar Diaz’s RGB vase, recently exhibited at the Eyes on Spanish Design show during the London Design Festival. In fact, the concept was inspired by Veuve Clicquot champagne.

When commissioned to come up with the vases for a fundraising event sponsored by the brand Diaz decided to give a new interpretation of the yellow-orange trademark colour. Dividing the yellow into its RGB components Diaz made three hand blown glass vases which, when nested, reform subtly into the yellow-orange colour at certain lights and angles.
