Fabrica, the Italian design laboratory led by Creative Director Sam Baron, chose Paris Design Week and the maximalist Christan Lacroix boutique as the location to show its latest project, Drawing Glass.

An exercise in diverting creative minds away from the computer and back to the drawing board, Baron led a team of designers, among them Studio Formafantasma, in a drawing class. They produced on paper 1:1 scale pictures of pieces they would like to create in glass. And their work stopped there. The drawings were handed to the masterful glass artist Massimo Lunardon who rendered them in 3D, freestyling to produce his interpretation of what he saw on paper.

A true collaborative project between designer and glass-blower, the pieces, some functional, some pure sculpture, are a triumph. There are fourteen in total - each a one-off, that will be sold hand-in-hand with its drawing.
