The construction rubble and safety barriers along Wooster Street weren’t going to deter any New Yorkers last night from being the first to cast their discerning eye on Calvin Klein’s brand new furniture line.

Housed in one of the spanking new town houses in the Gwathmey Siegel & Associates-designed Soho Mews development last night – and dubbed ‘the Calvin Klein Townhouse at Soho Mews’, the jury was out on whether CK could ascribe the clean, timeless design of the architecture onto its new design collection.

Overall, there was positive feedback according to all the cooing that was happening, most notably at the gold-leaf sleigh bed, leather armless occasional chair or black lacquered coffee table. If nothing else, people seemed very impressed that Calvin Klein was showing off two furniture collections in one go.

The first is the Calvin Klein Furniture line available exclusively at Macy’s from January. This collection consists of three groups - City, Weekend and Destination – all with a wood finish of walnut, whitewash and teak, respectively.

The other is The Curator collection by Calvin Klein Home, a ‘highly sophisticated sculptural offering’ that offers a slightly higher quality and detail than the Macy’s range. Speaking about both collections, Calvin Klein Home's Creative Director, Amy Mellen, points out that none of the furniture is ‘cold and modern, so you can mix it with anything you have.'
