Limited edition cover: roll over

Wallpaper* Design Awards, limited edition cover by Ingrid Siliakus

For this month's limited edition Design Awards cover, available exclusively to subscribers and out today, we enlisted the extraordinary talent of Dutch paper artist Ingrid Siliakus.

Inspired by our 12 major award-winners, Siliakus crafted a detailed, multi-layered foldout (see below), which was then illuminated and photographed for the cover. Roll over the image above to pick out the individual winners within the design.

'It was a fun project,' says Siliakus about doing the Wallpaper* commission. 'I don't think I've ever included so many different objects in one design. I wanted each component to get the attention it deserves individually but still work as part of a whole. Folding the small elements, like the stairs, was particularly challenging.'

Siliakus discovered 'paper architecture' about 15 years ago after falling in love with the work of Masahiro Chatani, the Japanese professor who founded the technique in the early 1980s. Apart from her personal art, which has been exhibited globally, she receives regular commissions from architects and design firms to produce everything from detailed construction models to limited edition artbooks and even specialty invitation cards, most notably for MoMA which came complete with a 3-D replica of the museum's building.

Her work and process will be featured in a book entitled 'The Paper Architect', which she co-authored, out later this year.
