Design lovers in London witnessed an exciting development today on the retail scene as cult Finnish brand Iittala threw open their doors on Regent Street. We've been devout followers of the Iittala brand, almost since we were old enough to progress from plastic beakers to proper glasses, which was of course before the days of Alfredo Haberli's Kids' Stuff range.

The new store holds every line in production by Iittala, including favourite pieces old and new, from Giorgio Vigna's graphic birds, to Aleksi Perala's delicate Oté range. The layout is a perfect extension of the brand's values: 'lasting everyday design, against throwawayism'.

The idea is that rather than buying an entire line by one designer, each collection is created in such a way that they work in subtle harmony with every other piece in the store, meaning unique, personable crockery and glassware collections in every home. Part Aladdin's cave, part dream crockery pick 'n' mix, the store is a stunning addition to what's fast becoming a design retail hub in central London.
