Korres suncare
We've always been fans of Korres, but this year it's the new suncare line that's got us hooked. Korres has taken its homeopathic heritage and combined it with modern suncare technology, top-quality active ingredients derived from plant extracts, and essential oils. Mix this with a passion for good packaging and graphic design and the result is an excellent natural suncare line that we are proud to flaunt on the boat or the beach.

Prada for men
Prada's vision of non-conformist elegance has recently been extended from fashion to fragrance. Prada for Men juxtaposes a heady masculine sensuality with clean, fresh notes. There is charm in the attention to detail, such as the engraved plaque disclosing the signature ingredients. We were impressed by the nobility of the bottle, too, with its bold lines, solid glass body and off-centre industrial-looking atomiser, which gives it a timeless appeal.

Serge Lutens cosmetics
Serge Lutens is an old master when it comes to achieving timeless elegance through make-up and scents, having defined the image of Shiseido through the 1980s and 1990s. He has now launched his own line of cosmetics that combines old-fashioned glamour with contemporary design and hi-tech formulas. The weighty black lacquer cases offer a nod to old Hollywood, but for a modern twist, Lutens has replaced traditional curves with clean, linear contours.

Skeen skincare for men
To make a mark on the competitive men's skincare market, products need not only to deliver results, but also to impress in the packaging stakes. In his new line, Skeen, Paris-based Pedro Garcia Maggi has struck the perfect balance between substance and style. We were impressed by the degree of research and technology that's gone into the anti-ageing grooming range, but its matt black and white bottles and lab-style labelling are what really drew us in.

Smiley fragrance
Prescription-free happiness? Sounds ambitious, but that's just
what Smiley's antidepressant perfume is offering. After lengthy
research at fragrance house Firmenich, a cocktail of ingredients with stimulating capabilities has been brought together to create a fragrance that releases happy endorphins. Optimism has been encapsulated in the futuristic bottle design by Ora Ito. The yellow happy face logo injects humour into an everyday ritual.
