We've always been fans of Marcel Wander's Dutch company and his show this year merely confirms our good taste. Playing on the unusual is something of a tag for the company - think traditional furniture and accessories with a slightly surreal twist.
However it was the simpler designs that caught our eye most this time. 'Icon' by first-time collaborator Matti Klenell has design classic written all over it. 'It's a lamp you come to think of when you can't think of any more lamps. Tactile and brutal, it's just a two-dimensional triangle added to a cable or pole,' explains the designer.
Also first timers are German duo Blasius Osko and Oliver Deichmann, whose 'Clip Chair' is a folding lounge chair of incredible practicality and modern simplicity. They're also extremely comfortable (we've tried them out to make sure) and have a timeless, clean aesthetic.
'Bamboo Lamp' by Committee was perhaps more along the lines of what we expect from Moooi. Comprised of organic, lacquered bamboo standing lamps in black or white with a simple cylinder drum, there's a characteristically playful element in that the pull cord for each lamp is a unique object from around the world. Be it a spoon, a toy horse or a vintage jug, the idea is that the owner can replace it with whatever they like.
