We’d almost given up hope, quietly resigning ourselves to the fact that Eva Schildt’s ingenious little design for an umbrella stand was going to join our tease list of products that never made it past prototype stage. Thankfully the good people at Design House Stockholm heard our cries and after almost four years since it was first shown at the Milan Furniture Fair, they have put the eccentric little piece into production. Inspired by Yves Klein’s work using sponges, the sculptural piece is a fine example of the current design/art trend trickling down to the high street.
