Never a shrinking violet, Swarovski is thinking big once again this year. For its ambitious '9 X 10: Swarovski Elements at Work' exhibition, it has teamed design luminaries like Konstantin Grcic and Doshi Levien with major manufacturers, challenging them to pioneer new ways to use crystals on an industrial scale.

The designers have stepped out of their comfort zones. On show are unusual pairings like plaster and ceramic with crystal for Gitta Gschwendtner's table and chairs, produced by Quinze & Milan, and crystal-embedded laminates created by Konstantin Grcic (W* Furniture Designer of the Year 2010) for Abet Laminati.

The exhibition takes place in the design hub that is the Triennale, from 13th to 17th April.
