As an extension of the highly successful Fire restaurant (see W* 70), the lobby has now been extended to house a beautiful new reception area designed by Conran & Partners with coffee shop with espresso bar. Mist sees the completion of the ground floor lobby design as the second stage in the phased renovation of the Park Hotel, New Delhi.
With Mist, the whole concept comes together, separating areas with screens and glass bead curtains that refract light, provide privacy and define space. Mist also introduces the 'water' element to the coffee shop and lobby, following ‘fire’ in the restaurant and ‘air and space’ in the reception – allowing the design of the hotel to portray and unify the five elements of the Vaastu Shastra.
The predominant colour is light blue of course, and blue glass is used to create the illusion of water droplets on the windows. The seats are blue and cream with dot-patterned fabrics designed by American artist Bruce Mau to finish the look.
At the end of the lobby, together with the minimalist water piece and sculpture is a wall-integrated projection screen offering video art. The first work to be shown was by English award-winning artist Daniel Brown and was specially commissioned by the Park Delhi for the opening of Mist.
The whole look is cool and contemporary and now complete.
