Transport Hotel bar, Melbourne
It may be three years late, but Transport Hotel (which, weirdly enough, is a bar) within Melbourne’s massive Federation Square Complex was worth the wait. Situated in one of the gleaming zinc three-storey ‘shards’ designed by LAB architecture studio and Bates Smart architects, the interior was overseen by restaurateur Paul Mathis and Maddison Architects.
Referencing Frank Lloyd Wright’s Fallingwater, Transport features concrete bar tops and bench seating, breaking a massive area into cosy spaces, while steel pipes like arteries transport beer to the taps. Its Taxi restaurant has just opened and the Transit Lounge bar follows soon.
