Shigeru Ban
This month's limited-edition cover by Japanese architect Shigeru Ban shows details of the Hermés pavilion at Salone del Mobile, designed by Ban and Jean de Gastines. When Hermés launched its brand new contemporary interiors collection recently in Milan, the luxury brand made a statement of serious intent by the headline commissioning of Ban and his partner to create their preview pavilion. Ban's cover, with its inclusion of abstract sketches relating to the construction of Pavilion Hermés - which was structured with cardboard tubes woven with paper - reflects on the simple nomadic frame which has a modular core.
