Wim Crouwel
In anticipation of the retrospective celebrating Wim Crouwel’s career at London’s Design Museum, Wallpaper* asked the Dutch design icon to bring his uniquely tight grip on form and space to our interiors shoot and a limited edition cover. ‘I rarely make even the smallest sketch without drawing on squared paper,’ he told us – a starting point that was to form the basis of both designs, on his cover used as a two-dimensional anchor for a virtual three-dimensional space. The illusion of space is thanks to the application of a colour gradient.
Since we launched our limited edition cover project as part of Wallpaper* magazine's tenth anniversary celebrations in 2006, some of the biggest and brightest names in the worlds of art, architecture and design have created unique and memorable images, exclusively for our Wallpaper* subscribers. With the artists' inspiration ranging from elk to goldfish, from fashion to the future, here's the full cover story to date.
