While there is no substitute for viewing art first-hand, when it comes to actually purchasing a new piece for your collection it’s sometimes nice not to have to bother with the hassles and limitations of the traditional gallery format.

Hang Up Pictures, which launched last month, is a new concept in online art distribution, with a focus on high-quality limited edition and rare original work from an evolving group hot young urban artists – names like Antony Micallef, Adam Neate, Banksy, Michael de Feo, Bast, Faile, Blu, and SPQR.

The point isn’t to Amazon-ise the art market – this isn’t mass distribution by any means – but instead to offer buyers a convenient, dynamic and accessible alternative to traditional channels and to showcase carefully selected up-and-coming talent (alongside the more established names) who might otherwise be out of reach for many collectors.
