KGID, ed Florian Bohm

In barely five years, the German designer Konstantin Grcic has become one of the toasts of the industry. With an approach that fuses the raw simplicity of true industrial products with domestic practicality, RCA-trained Grcic is unafraid to eschew conventional forms.

Signature pieces have a functional twist that also generates the form, and the designer researches every object intently, so that each piece is supported by extensive input from material and design history.

Grcic’s studio produces objects that can be understood in an instant, yet endure to progressively reveal more layers of meaning and function. Commissions have come from Moroso, Krups, Muji, Flos and Iittala, placing Grcic at the heart of the design establishment.
