'Make Do' is the name of a joint show by two young artists, Julian Wild and Owen Bullett, which opened Friday 11th July and runs for a month in London’s edgy Dalston neighbourhood. Colourful and lively, the sculptures stay just the right side of ‘fun’ and although fresh in spirit, give an air of sixties blow-ups coupled with a touch of Koons.

Owen Bullett has created objects out of his fascination for constructing 3-dimensional pieces from 2-dimensional materials. Not confined to a single room, his forms explore walls and floors and ‘travel through the architecture of the gallery’.

The ceramic and glass work of Julian Wild depicts composition frozen on the brink of collapse and includes his ‘Gestalt’ piece, a 2-metre tower of melting orange donuts described by the artist as ‘lolloping rejects from a 1960s glass factory’. Stimulating stuff from two names to keep tabs on.
