Books: Topsy-Turvy World

Photographer Frank Kunert has built himself a twisted urban landscape of impossible structures and architectural perversities - roads to nowhere, tunnels ploughing through buildings, a child’s slide poised menacingly above a road. Inspired by the humdrum yet honest architecture of the former East Germany, Kunert devoted countless hours to recreating the Eastern Bloc aesthetic in miniature, all dirty concrete and faded paint, ensuring that each diorama contains a blackly-humorous twist.
