Wood Awards 2012

The UK's annual Wood Awards have just been announced at the Carpenters’ Hall in the City of London. Presented in the suitably wood-clad spectacle that is the main banqueting hall, the Awards' big winners were David Morley Architects, whose Hurlingham Club Outdoor Pool (pictured) scooped both first place in its individual category, 'Structural', and the hotly contested overall Gold Award 2012. Winners in other categories include David Mikhail Architects’ East London House ('Private' category), the Stowe Gardens Visitor Centre by Cowper Griffith Architects ('Commercial & Public Access') and the Extended Oak Table by Rupert McBain ('Bespoke Furniture'), while AL_A’s spectacular Timber Wave from last year’s London Design Festival won the Judges’ Special Commendation of the evening. Here’s a tour of this years’ winning designs.
