Fab 40: Realarchitektur, Sweden

Scandinavia

Though based in Berlin since 1993, Realarchitektur’s principal Petra Petersson’s Swedish roots meant that when an opportunity came up to redesign a good friend’s house in Stockholm, she simply couldn't let it pass. Petersson’s brief outlined the renovation of an original 1934 villa located in the Djusholm area.

In transforming the two-storey house the architects have strengthened the connection between living areas and outdoor space, while keeping original architectural detailing – such as doors and window frames – and combining them with new elements and forms. The result is an all-new ground floor layout, which comes complete with the architects’ set of original furniture designs and fittings, built from oak and MDF boards.
