Tokyo-born Hiroshi Kikuchi had worked with well-known names like Kazuyo Sejima and Herzog & de Meuron before setting up his own practice in 2004.
Since then, he has been working on building his portfolio, focusing on residential design and winning several awards; one of them for one of his most recent works, Oizumi House in West Tokyo. Another new project involved the renovation of Tokyo’s Nanyodo bookshop in Chiyoda. The architect demolished parts of the façade, refitted the interior and moved the main entrance, to transform an old 1980s interior within an original Shin Toki-designed building into a contemporary retail interior.
