Fab 40: Christian Biecher, Paris
An architect whose work often intersects with fine art, Christian Biecher set up his office in 1994 and has since worked in architectural, product, and exhibition design all over France. His latest work includes a private house in Chamonix and the recent Lilas Animation Centre in Paris, a complex that includes exhibition galleries, performance space and office areas, divided into boldly coloured interiors.
His installation ‘Lace’, created with Manufacture Nationale de Sèvres and featuring craftily stretched porcelain bricks, was first exhibited in Robert Mallet-Stevens' Villa Noailles in Hyères for the Design Parade 2009 festival and is currently on show at the manufacturers’ Paris gallery.
