London-based Azman Architects have remodelled the interior of this Victorian seaside house in Aldeburgh, Suffolk, transforming it into a striking contemporary home for a family of four

Due to the poor condition of the interior walls and floors, the home required a complete overhaul - a useful opportunity to reconfigure the spatial design and natural lighting from scratch

The interior is a true study in white, its walls lined with an unobtrusive painted softwood panelling that seamlessly melds into cabinet and cupboard doors. The floor, meanwhile, is coated in handmade Moroccan tiles

'The staircase was positioned to act as an anchor in the house,' explains Ferhan Azman. 'We highlighted this by installing a roof light above the stairwell to filter daylight to the rear rooms'
