Mar Azul is a seaside town about 400km south of Buenos Aires, which, apart from the blue seas that the name implies, also neighbours a big, leafy forest.

This is where the owners of Casa de Hormigon chose to build their cottage, in order to escape the busy city life and combine wonderful architecture with the peaceful natural landscape.

The house, complete in spring 2007, was designed by Argentineans Maria Victoria Besonias, Guillermo de Almeida and Luciano Kruk of BAK architects.

Casa de Hormigon means literally 'concrete house', emphasising the chosen construction material and the specially designed concrete furniture.

The architects provided generous openings to allow plenty of light throughout, while a single outdoor deck overlooking the woods guarantees a dialogue with the exterior while uniting all living spaces.
