Book: New London Architecture 2
Architecture
Six years is a long time in the lifespan of a dynamic capital city, but in architectural terms not a lot seems to have happened since the first volume of NLA debuted in 2003. Imagery is still dominated by page upon page of rendered panoramas, creating a glossy sheen that will inevitably be lost in translation to finished structure.
With the 2012 Olympics overshadowing investment programmes and infrastructure management, the true shape of future London is still very much in the air, regardless of how many virtual glassy towers stalk across these imaginary horizons.
Ultimately, it's the small, completed projects that really stand out.
