As the sub-title suggests, the theme is the collective cultural fascination with the future, an ongoing obsession that manifests itself in a subculture of model-making, computer manipulation and intense artwork around the theme of the fantasy cityscape. Building on the utopian imagery of the 1960s and 1970s, the architectural artwork of the 21st century is rich with detail and ironic reference.
