Christopher Bailey, a 37-year-old Yorkshireman, has been creative director of Burberry since 2001. He is seen as the most benign but powerful of fashion’s Caesar class, allowed a remarkable amount of creative rope and influence by current Burberry CEO Angela Ahrendts.

Under Bailey's helm, Burberry has established itself as the only British team in the luxury-brand premier league. Turnover has doubled during his tenure, up to £1bn last year.

And now, the brand has a distiguished HQ to echo its success. Bailey and his team took a year to find the building, then spent another year gutting and refurbishing it, but the 1930s ex-government monolith in London’s Westminster is finally ready for the 850-strong team to move in.

The full feature on the new London HQ and interview with Christopher Bailey is in the April issue (W*121).

For wallpaper.com, Bailey takes us on a tour of his favourite buildings of all time.
