HISTORY
Bing Bu's studied at Beijing's Tsinghua University and Yale, before joining the influential MADA Spam studio in Shanghai. He set up One Design Inc in 2003. The firm's early successes include a resort hotel in Ningbo.
APPROACH
Working on a range of scales, One Design aims to bring a fresh perspective to the connection between architecture and the environment. 'We try to be suggestive, rather than dictatorial,' says Bu, 'We're uninterested in the stereotyped Chinese image,' he adds.
FUTURE
They're working on an extension of their original hotel in Ningbo hotel and a new mixed use development in Shanghai's Zhujiajiao district. 'In the near future, it's my ambition to establish a team to work on research to expand our interests in social and environmental issues,' says Bu.
